Norm has been Chief Creative Officer at Cactus since 2003, putting his mark on every piece of creative that comes through our building. At the core of Norm’s philosophy is the notion that everyone needs to be creative. The term “creative” is not individual to the designers and copywriters of Cactus, but for our entire team. It’s about solving problems in unexpected ways and creating advantages. “If everyone is doing their job, they are being creative. It’s about being resourceful and connecting dots in a way that’s unexpected or different.” With over 20 years of experience in the business, Norm’s blue-collar, “work hard, play hard” approach to creative has earned Cactus accolades from Cannes, The One Show, SXSW and countless others.

Norm shares his ample knowledge (and Dad jokes) as a guest lecturer in his spare time, speaking on creative thinking and design. He served as an Adjunct Professor for eight years at his alma mater, CU Boulder, and was named Alumni of the Year for CU’s Advertising and Journalism School in 2013.

Kris pretty much keeps Cactus in business. She brings more than 20 years of accounting and business management experience, and handles all contractual and financial aspects of the work we produce on behalf of our clients. Read: all of the very important stuff most of us know nothing about. This includes everything from overseeing agency financials to troubleshooting and updating agency computer and network systems. And, of course, keeping our team well outfitted with equipment and supplies. Needless to say, without Kris, we might not be here. She has been at Cactus for 12 years, providing a firm foundation for all of our operations.

Ann is a ‘think outside the box’ kind of problem-solver. Focused on the strategy behind each project, she brings 10 years of international experience to Cactus. Ann has managed B2B, B2C and FMCG multi-channel brand campaigns for boutique agencies from Melbourne, Australia to London. Well-traveled and well rounded, she’s covered everything from financial services, transportation and architecture to the food industry and urban development. Ann recently returned to her home state of Colorado to build awareness and customer advocacy for brands that work to do good in the world. And if all else fails, she’s a firm believer that a tipple…or three…can make everything better.

Shruthi is the legitimate love child of strategy and creativity. With more than ten years of advertising experience, Shruthi's background is as varied and diverse as the creative she produces. She has a traditional design education from the Art Institute of Colorado and brings together a diversity of creative disciplines and experience. Shruthi has worked with international, national and local brands, including Nolte Germany, AIGA Colorado, First Western Trust, Which Which, Applejack Wine and Spirits, Lyra Health and Man Therapy. Aside from design, her other job is to find a personalized tourist tchotchke that has her full name (a nearly impossible task), while she travels the world.

Sarah has never met a medium she doesn’t like. She may be a Senior Designer, but she also considers herself an artist, illustrator, art director, communicator and master puzzle solver. Sarah has a particular passion for developing consistent design languages for the brands she has worked with, including Oreo, Benjamin Moore, Geico, PING and Walmart. She was born and raised in Colorado and loves living here. So much so, that she returned to Colorado after earning her B.S. in Communications from Northwestern University, and then again after sharpening her advertising skills at The Martin Agency in Richmond, VA. Sarah is now happy to call Denver home, living and playing here with her husband and two children.

Summer doesn't believe in doing things adequately. Born and raised under coconut trees in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, she has a restlessness slightly unbefitting to island life, which brought her to beautiful Colorado. Ditching her surfboard for a snowboard, she earned a BSBA and MBA in Marketing from the University of Denver. Her agency experience began in account service, but she's since pivoted to follow her passion into social media management, with experience on clients like Michelle Obama's Partnership for a Healthier America, VISIT DENVER and TD Ameritrade. At heart, Summer is a naturally curious early adopter, an avid health-foodie and a lover of rooftop patios.

Kayla writes stories—the short ones. If she can get you to smile, cry, or, most notably, laugh in 30 seconds or a few pages, she’s done her day’s work. And she always does her day’s work. Kayla has written for brands including Burt’s Bees, Krispy Kreme, Domino’s, PepsiCo, Good Food Made Simple, and TiVo. Though you’ll find her snowboarding or car-camping on the weekends, you’ll also find a heater under her desk. Things don’t always add up with her, that’s why we don’t let her do any math.

Katie is a multi-media maven. She wears many hats at Cactus, but her most prominent one is in media planning and buying. Katie started on the account side, where she worked with clients such as The Inverness Hotel and Dorado Beach Resort. That’s where she had an “aha moment”, realizing that her impeccable attention to detail combined with her enthusiasm for data was perfect for a career in media. With a Journalism/Strategic Communications degree from Ohio University, her first homework assignment in college was to create a Twitter account. So, she gets it…media is constantly changing. And she’s always ready to tackle it head on.

Ricky has a talent for making brands likable and sees every project as an opportunity to do that. After graduating from CU’s Advertising program, he cut his teeth at Crispin Porter and Bogusky working on Burger King, Windows Phone and Domino’s. After that, he further honed his skills working for a range of brands, including Wyoming Tourism, Wyoming Department of Health and WOW! Cable. Austin is always focused on the details. He gives every piece of the puzzle special attention to make a flawless final product, and enjoys seeing it all come together. Growing up in Colorado, exploring and adventure are his bread and butter, and that translates into his work on a daily basis. Austin is naturally curious and always wants to see how things work behind the scenes, from deciphering a few lines of code or navigating the waters of design. He touches nearly every client here at Cactus, whether it be web development, animation, banner work or design for a digital platform. Never satisfied with something being “good enough,” Austin constantly pushes himself and anything he works on to be smarter, faster or overall more awesome.

Zach lives within the web. He thrives on the art of making your wildest dreams come to life online (and skiing, of course). Originally from St. Louis, Zach started his marketing career working on liquor brands under the Skyy Spirits portfolio, such as Wild Turkey and the launch of American Honey. He later moved on to work with Bacardi USA, Hungry Howie’s Pizza, Balance Bar, Grey Goose, Martini Rossi and Nature’s Variety. So he’s a digital AND liquor connoisseur. The world of advertising is a second career for Cole. He started in the hospitality industry in Atlanta, where he dreamed of owning a restaurant and received his degree from Georgia State University. After opening a personal concierge service, he made the move to Denver and worked at Karsh and Hagan before we lured him to Cactus. Here, Cole started in media but found his true calling in becoming the Office Manager, something he owns with every fiber of his being. Cole is a passionate communicator, something you can see in every email he sends and every conversation he spearheads. The Spirit of Cactus, Cole’s organization and spunk keep us together and always on our game.

Hailey has an epic love affair with art and design. She tapped into her storied background in fine art to study conceptual design and advertising at the University of Colorado, and then came to Cactus straight outta Boulder. As an Art Director, she continues to combine art and business, work and play. Hailey has a passion for finding visual solutions that make complex ideas easy to understand and relate to. Her first broadcast campaign at Cactus starred football great Peyton Manning (no big deal). After checking that off the list, she's been working on clients like the Colorado Lottery, UCHealth, Odell, Applejack, Silk, Horizon and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Julie loves a good story and has been telling them for years. She got her start at CNN, where the fast-paced environment became a part of her DNA. Between space shuttle launches and presidential campaigns, she picked up a few Peabody Awards before focusing on social media. Remember when the first Ebola patient came to the U.S.? That went down on her fourth day as Director of Social Media at Emory University, and she won an award for her strategic planning and leadership. When she and her husband set their sites on Denver, Cactus was her dream job and now she’s living it. Julie earned her chops at Ohio University, where she studied Broadcast Journalism and minored in German. Wirklich!
